BIO:

Bob Freyer is an American award winning artist from Pittsburgh Pa. Born in 1980 and living in a small town of North Huntingdon he gravitated to cartoons, action figures, and using his imagination. While growing up in the 80s and 90s he used his imagination to draw things as he saw them. Drawing his figures differently than they were or how he would like them, or drawing weird creatures that appeared out his window at night. Even to this day he’s still drawing creatures that don’t exist.

His artistic influence started young. The beginning of what is now, it started with watching Bob Ross. In the later years he fell in love with Hip Hop, basketball, BMX, and skateboarding. Hip Hop is a big part of his life, while listening to music he pictured snapshots of art associated with the music. This led to a love for graffiti and the freedom of the graffiti culture. Finding more artists to be inspired from that were untraditional and the artists themselves were misfits.

Since 2013 after picking up the art supplies it has lead to him creating almost everyday since. From 2013 to around 2016 he was creating pop art. Using mainly spray paint and stencils. Painting in style gave him many opportunities to in showing his work and gaining a following on social media. He’s since moved on to creating original artwork and using different mediums. Like acrylics, oils, oil pastels, spray paint, oil pigments, inks and other materials that he can incorporate to his paintings.

His works now consist of memories of his childhood. Finding the moments that are hidden by adulthood. He like to explore his insecurities he had as a child and as an adult apply them to his subjects. Having two young kids is something that inspires Mr. Freyer. He watches how they interact and finds glimpse of himself as a kid. Bob loves to paint with his kids, and they have taught him just to have fun and enjoy it. This has resulted in him taking a new approach to art and painting for himself. It’s not for the likes on social media, it’s all about his release he gets through his art.

Looking through his catalog of work, you’ll see how he pokes fun at himself. You’ll also see he likes to play with words and pop art. There’s also an obsession with painting bunnies.

Bob Freyer is an artist that paints for himself. His paintings are how he sees the world through his eyes. His artwork is his words, his memories his thoughts, and his secrets.
